FINANCE COMMITTEE
December 2006

Standing Committee: Treasurer, plus 5 or 6 community members

Responsibilities:

1. Monitor operating funds and any reserve funds.

2. Annual Budget Preparation: All Committee Chairs shall prepare budgeting requests/suggestions and submit to the Finance Committee by October 1 at the latest. The Finance Committee shall use these requests/suggestions as much as possible in the budget preparation and in November will present a draft of the proposed upcoming year’s budget to the Executive Committee for approval. The final budget shall be presented at the December Residents Meeting.

3. Monthly fees will cover all exterior maintenance of ElderSpirit Community at Trailview, including exteriors and interiors of the Common House and Spirit Center. Additionally, these fees will be used for social events as determined by Committee Chairs.

4. Advise committees and individuals on how to have expenditures approved.

5. Answer financial questions or deal with other community-level financial concerns.

6. Make arrangements for property insurance.

7. Distribute annual and other required financial notices.

8. Distribute monthly reports on expenses vs. the operating budget at Residents Meetings.
